Monrovia, Indiana
Monrovia, Indiana, only about 15 miles from state capital Indianapolis, is one of hundreds of little towns that pepper the map of the United States. Truly tiny, its population was recorded as 628 citizens during the census of 2000.
Monrovia, Indiana has a number of attributes to recommend it, not least of which is its easy access, via Interstate-70, to Indy, where one can find a seemingly unending cornucopia of Indianapolis attractions, shopping venues, real estate options and employment opportunities. The town also is where Gary Bettenhausen, a famous Indy Racing League driver, and John Standeford, a well known Detroit Lions wide receiver, call home.

But tops on the list of distinctions for Monrovia, Indiana would be the town’s high school, Monrovia High, which has walked off with diverse honors over the years. One such award was a well deserved state championship for the Bulldogs in 1988 for the Academic Super Bowl Competition. Another, in 2006, was the high recognition granted the Monrovia High School band when they took first place in the Class A Band Championships.
